Kenneth J. Grote, Esq.

A graduate of University of Baltimore Law School, Mr. Grote spent thirteen years prosecuting on the Eastern Shore and in Carroll County. It was there he learned how to try cases, as well as build relationships with judges, law enforcement and other attorneys.  Most recently he practiced for four years at a mid sized office before starting his own firm in 2023. Mr. Grote attributes his hard work ethic to growing up in a large family on a working farm in the Midwest.

Biography

Kenneth Grote is an experienced Maryland criminal defense attorney and the founder of Grote Law, bringing nearly two decades of courtroom experience to every case he handles. A cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, Mr. Grote began his legal career clerking for the Honorable Joseph McCurdy in the Baltimore City Circuit Court, where he assisted in felony jury trials.


Mr. Grote went on to spend thirteen years as a prosecutor on the Eastern Shore and in Carroll County, including serving as a Senior State’s Attorney and District Court Supervisor. During that time, he handled a wide range of serious felony and misdemeanor cases, including attempted murder, vehicular homicide, armed robbery, handgun violations, drug offenses, and hundreds of DUI and traffic-related matters. He has tried cases before both juries and judges and has extensive experience in every phase of criminal litigation.


Following his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Grote practiced for four years at a mid-sized law firm before founding Grote Law in 2023. His deep understanding of how cases are built and evaluated by the prosecution allows him to develop strategic, effective defenses tailored to each client’s unique situation.


Mr. Grote has extensive training in trial advocacy, including programs through the National Trial Advocacy Center and the Maryland Young Prosecutors School. He has also completed advanced training with the Maryland State Police, including DUI enforcement, Intoximeter operation, and Advanced Collision Investigation. Throughout his career, he has trained younger attorneys and provided legal updates and instruction to law enforcement agencies.


With experience in hundreds of DUI cases, including participation in DUI checkpoints and breath testing procedures, Mr. Grote brings a detailed, technical understanding to every DUI defense. He has successfully represented clients facing charges ranging from traffic violations to serious felony offenses.


Known for his relentless work ethic and practical, client-focused approach, Mr. Grote is committed to keeping his clients informed, prepared, and confident throughout the legal process.
